Why Shoo for Good?
Shoo for Good was created to give you a simple, stylish solution to help you enjoy the outdoors without the distraction of biting bugs.
Shoo for Good's 100% cotton wraps, made in Ethiopia, create fair-wage jobs and help sustain the hand-spinning, dyeing, and weaving traditions there. Our Indian-made scarves are all hand-printed in a village workshop.
We are committed to the fight against malaria. With every wrap sold, we make a donation to our partner, United to Beat Malaria, the United Nations Foundation's campaign to save lives by distributing protective bed nets to families in need.
Can I wash my wrap?
Yes, you can wash by hand or in the machine with cold water. Best to line-dry, but you can machine-dry, too. Use a cool iron. Do not dry-clean.
What about the repellency? How long will it last?
Repellency lasts for 70 washings.
Is it safe?
According to the EPA, the small amount of permethrin used to treat clothing is too low to pose risks to people including pregnant women and children. For more information, visit our Insect Shield page.
What's the difference between a wrap, a scarf, and a throw?
Wraps are larger than scarves and offer more coverage. Scarves aren't quite as wide (nice for petites) and are easy for men to wear. Throws are a bit heavier and are great for cool evenings. Plus, they can be tossed on the lawn or sand to deter ticks, ants, and other bugs.
Will my ankles be protected?
Our new drawstring pants will keep ticks and mosquitoes off your ankles and legs. Your wrap will, too, if you wear it sarong-style around your waist or draped over your lap.
For added protection on uncovered areas, we recommend a natural spray, one made with oil of lemon eucalyptus (OLE), like Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent. (Other natural options contain lemon eucalyptus essential oil, which is different and less effective.)
I got a mosquito bite! What's up with that?
Some mosquitoes are determined. I'm really sorry. If you're in a particularly infested area, you might want to pair with additional methods of protection.
